“My practice explores the notion of ‘home’, not as a fixed location but as an emotional space of belonging, where memory can be revisited through shadow. As an oil painter, I am interested in the philosophies of home as investigated through a phenomenological lens. I like to employ the motific nature of domestic landscapes and the liminality of light and space to create tangible tension, a collective aloneness reflective of the dichotomy between the inner mind and the exterior world.

Drawing from photographs and past places I have inhabited, my figures are never directly depicted but appear as silhouettes or obscured forms, echoes of nostalgia and loss. I like to draw comparisons between memory and light: fleeting, disappearing almost as soon as it appears, yet in the moment they can trigger recollections of a past time and place. Silhouettes fade with the departing light, and the light itself holds a timeless, archival quality that contrasts the liminality of shadows. I often paint former family homes at a transitional hour, using shifting light, shadow and fragmented space to evoke instability and loss. My paintings hence become nostalgic homes for memory itself, situated between what was, what remains, and what is lost.”
